COMMITMENT

MODERNITY ON/OFF

An activist forum

Created upon the initiative of LaSer in November 2008, the "Action Modernités" Forum is a multi-partner foundation run under the aegis of the Fondation de France and chaired by Philippe Lemoine, with Edgar Morin acting as Honorary Chairman.

Through this initiative, LaSer has its sights set on participating alongside major French and European groups in providing insight on the role of corporations in meeting future challenges.

The mission assigned to this "Action Modernités" Forum is to contribute to shaping collective representations that are both positive and credible.
The increasing complexity of our environments confronts us with challenging issues related to social transformation and innovation, necessitating a reconfiguration of our modes of organisation and interaction with others. In a constantly changing world, it is more pressing than ever to unleash desires, support initiatives and channel energies towards building hope. The "Action Modernités" Forum approach is unique in that it combines strategic reflection, roundtable discussions and actions into its development process aimed at:

- Generating ideas through reflection groups devoted to specific topics;
- Promoting ideas by directing the public debate through organising On/Off evening events held at the Théâtre du Rond-Point as well as by publishing books;
- Turning ideas into action: within the think tank of alliances and initiatives, the Forum recently launched TEN (The European Network) in collaboration with the Clinton Global Initiative.

The commitment behind this "Action Modernités" Forum has been guided by forging alliances: innovative alliances, alliances between a society's various actors (corporations, social entrepreneurs, NGOs, artists, scholars, etc.), in addition to intergenerational alliances. www.forum-modernites.org
